A Little Of Our Story

A Little History

Animo Clinic is an organization which operates a low-cost veterinary clinic in the north of Mauritius to assist in reducing the population of stray dogs in that region and to provide advanced veterinary services to the local community.

We offer a full range of veterinary services; mobile sterilization campaigns, surgical services, diagnostic and therapeutic services including laboratory services.

The NGO was established in 2020 and the founding members renovated the premises and purchased necessary equipment to operate as a animal shelter with basic veterinary services.

In 2021 the decision was made by the founders of the NGO to separate the Clinic from the shelter. This decision was at the time the result of a local clinic wanting to create a partnership where by the new partner would assist in providing Licenses/modern equipment & qualified staff – This partnership did not materialize.

However the founders decided to continue with the decision to Privatize the Clinic and has sourced an expat veterinarian and local assistants to operate the clinic.

Forward planning

Our project Goals

In the short term
– The clinic would like to employ an additional Vet to be able to cater for all animal species – mainly Horses – This creates further development in the Valhalla project.
– Employ 2 Qualified Vet Techs to assist vets with treatments & surgeries and be able to train trainee’s
– Increase our operational hours and have a Vet on call at all times to cater for emergencies.
The goal of the project / the clinic is to become the reference clinic in Mauritius as the no.1 veterinary clinic while providing services to the community at an affordable price.

An educational outlook

We would like to provide a platform for young individuals to learn and further their careers in veterinary services. The clinic does this via accepting volunteering or employing the individuals as trainees, providing them with study material and ‘hands on’ training. This provides the individuals was essential experience and knowledge to assist in furthering their studies in veterinary services.

To Provide abandoned animals with a safe & caring environment and help in finding them a caring forever home.

Long Term goals
